What is cupido asteroid?

Cupido asteroid, also known as 763 Cupido, is a relatively small asteroid in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter. It was discovered by French astronomer Auguste Charlois on January 7, 1913.

The asteroid is approximately 52 km in diameter and has a rotation period of about 13 hours. It is classified as a C-type asteroid, which means that it is composed of dark carbonaceous materials similar to those found in meteorites.

One interesting feature of Cupido asteroid is its unusual orbit. It has a relatively high eccentricity, which means that its distance from the Sun varies significantly over the course of its orbit. It also has an inclination of over 12 degrees, which is relatively high for an asteroid in the main belt.

Despite its small size and relatively unremarkable composition, Cupido asteroid has been studied by astronomers using a variety of techniques, including radar observations. These studies have helped to improve our understanding of the physical properties and orbital dynamics of asteroids in the main belt.
